  • Ontario is the second-largest province in Canada, taking up more than 10% of Canada's entire area. It's larger than France and Spain put together, larger than California and Texas put together and the same size as Scandanavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland).
  • Two-thirds of Ontario is covered by the Canadian Shield. It is the oldest rock on earth -- Precambrian granite hundreds of millions of years old.
  • Ontario accounts for 30% of Canada's mineral output, (not including oil and gas), and 21% of its forestry products.
  • The province is Canada's leading producer of fruit and vegetables.
  • There are 67,000 farms in Ontario. These farms produce more than a quarter of Canada's farm products.
  • 650,000 people work in the agriculture industry.
